Artist Statement
It is a universal truth that art and life are inextricably intertwined. Art provides the escape our soul yearns for during troubled times - the antidote to all things bleak and depressing. As a painter, I strive to create images with a deep sense of beauty an immediacy for all to appreciate and enjoy. As the British Romantic Poet, John Keats once said,”Beauty is truth, truth beauty. That’s all you know on Earth and all ye need to know.” Nature serves as my main inspirational source since we are all beholden to the magnetic pull of our environment. Colour and movement are vital characteristics of my works - colour to connect with the sensorial - movement to reflect the rhythm of our restless nature. The Perception of our imagination and the energy of our passions are factors which drive the engine of our creativity and inventions. It is my hope that the lyrical underpinnings intrinsic within my images will traverse the globe capturing humanity’s universal desire for all things organic within modernity’s implacable progress. Bold, vigorous and uninhibited are traits of our time and the brushstrokes embedded within my art works.
